Design Thinking Alternatives for Anthropologically and Ecologically Diverse Landscapes
My work exposes the interconnected relationship between difference in the ecology of the environment, and the social, cultural and linguistic spatial mechanisms, in order to imagine and create public spaces that embrace a palimpsest of histories and spatial constructs that embrace heterogeneity as a landscape process.
Before we dive into my research, I first want to define heterogeneity - it is a term that is often used to describe the resilience of ecological systems. In short it defines diversity as an essential characteristic of resilience within a system.
My initial inquiry was to study selected quantitative and qualitative data around public space. In search of bringing the ecological and anthropological systems together to realize a more just and resilient world.
It’s fascinating to zoom out as well in order to understand our place in this universe. Planet Earth is a direct product of change and difference, heterogeneity is the one characteristic that defines life’s ability to thrive in on earth.
